Call of duty: Black Ops multiplayer review

Black ops multiplayer is one of the best multiplayer games on the market today. After countless attempts by other games to compete with call of duty;call of duty has always stayed strong and has been the most played multiplayer game over the course of 4 years. Needless to say, the game keeps on getting better every single year. With the addition to new killstreaks, equipment, wager matches, currency, and more, Black Ops could be the best call of duty yet. Of course though there are still issues with the game, such as connection problems. But is is easy to look past that and enjoy the game.

Multiplayer consists of players competing online in separate game modes such as domination, capture the flag, team deathmatch...etc. Throughout the game, you rank up and earn new weapons, emblems and camos. The new currency called "cod points" unfortunately makes you have to buy the gun AFTER you unlock it. I do not see it being necessary to unlock things twice in a row. Treyarch is pushing players to choose their own path buy buying guns, equipment and camo right from the start.

The game modes are very similar aside from a barebones playlist that adds limitations to matches such as no perks or attachments in a team deathmatch. There is one very unique fun mode called "Wager matches." Wager matches help you earn cod points by betting on the match and placing in the top three to get paid. The game modes are: One in the chamber which only allows you to have 1 single bullet and three lives, knife somebody and get a bullet, miss a shot and you are left with nothing. Sticks and stones give you an explosive crossbow and a ballistic knife only. Get tomahawked and you will lose all of your points! Sharpshooter is a free for all game where you get a randomized gun every 45 seconds. Gun game(my personal favorite) is a game mode where you progress through 20 levels of guns. Going from hard to easy to harder. It shows you the types of weapons in the game and once you kill someone with all 20 guns you win the match. Careful though because you will get setback one gun if you get knifed.

Deathstreaks have been removed along with the nuke. Your killstreaks do not count towards other killsteaks and you have all of them unlocked for you at level 10. This makes it more challenging for that top killstreak to put your team on top. The perks are mostly the same with fresh new names. The new guns and equipment are fun to use. A camera spike allows you to view a certain area while the new motion sensor allows you to have a small radar in your area. It is good to use for defending a bomb or a spot. Treyarch has done a wonderful job adding new features to the game and it will make call of duty fans satisfied.

Lost Planet 2 Review

Lost planet 2
Genre: third -person action shooter

Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release Date: 05/11/10

The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years after the events of the first game. The snow has melted to reveal jungles and more tropical areas that have taken the place of more frozen regions. The third person action shooter really grabs your attention with its unique play style and stunning graphics. The campaign is mostly made for co-op online play along with a splitscreen mode and if you don't have xbox live this game can really set you into the wrong direction.

Campaign is set up with 6 episodes with multiple chapters in each, set up with huge bosses and many enemies. Although you can get lost in the plot, the story has cinematic cut scenes and great voice-overs. This game impresses you within the start. The environment really makes you feel like your in the game.

The story is mixed around having multiple protagonists with multiple groups of enemies. It is really a surprise every time. It is quite easy to get lost in the story, but it wont matter because you'll be spending to much time annihilating akrids and pirates. Your missions require four men and if you go at it alone you'll find that your AI's are really stupid and are just shooting at walls. For example, at a time in the game a category G Akrid comes up and if you are playing alone, you will find yourself dying over and over again. And that is where lost planet 2 has its problems. Communication is key in this game.

Lost planet 2 excels in its co-op, you will find your self using a lot of team work to take down bosses and other objectives. It feels like a real accomplishment finishing episodes and ranking up. You have career level points that match the character you are using at the time. The points can be gained through online play or campaign mode. Another pro to lost plant 2 is it's customization. Unlock titles, weapons, and parts for your character to show around the world to other players.

Online modes consist of the main three: post grab( similar to capture the flag), elimination(death match), and team elimination, With the new mode fugitive. The online mode is just great great fun and the 10 maps in multiplayer will have you playing it for a while. This game is incomparable to any others and you should try the experience out for yourself!

Score:
8.9/10
-bad single player
-poor AI
- sometimes confusing story

Medal of Honor review

Medal of Honor Review

Medal of Honor, once the number one shooter has been taken over by call of duty, the leader in the fps genre for the past couple of years. This time, Medal of Honor goes into modern combat. Can EA gain some supporters back for the series or will it fall short in the competition?

At first, when you look at fps’s campaign these days you would see a mediocre story. This is not the case with MoH. Medal of Honor really pulls you in to the story with the interesting characters and a legit story. You are dropped into Afghanistan during the first stages of war there; Medal of Honor shows you the story of four Tier 1 operators, the elite members of the US military.

The game really brings you into the story; it shows you that this game is based off of real events. It really touches you that our troops are really going through these things on a daily bases and it really makes you think. The story takes a toll on you, at one scene, you are pounded with bullets as you try and push up with little cover. It really made me wonder what REALLY goes on over in Afghanistan. Danger close does a good job of explaining the story.

The campaign had a variety of missions that differed from the simple point and shoot missions. You would find most military shooters suffer from the same boring missions where you just point and shoot to kill everything. You can find yourself controlling missiles, driving four wheelers, and long range sniping; it really is nice to see something different in an fps. With replay ability, you get Tier 1 mode. You are challenged to complete each missions under par time, and this includes leader boards.

The game play is the same mechanics as other fps games. There are some nice changes though featuring sliding while running into cover. It is fun to do and really helps you in most situations. There is also an auto aim that can get annoying at some points in the game. Overall it is just general fps game play but it has some unique twists. The graphics are quite nice. Danger close developed the single player and did a great job. The nights scenes really makes it feel like it is dark outside with a haunting feeling. I only saw some minor frame rate issues when everything was happening all at once on the screen. The audio is also wonderful, the silent movement and the crazy action gets the sound right.

Danger close and EA really delivered with the single player campaign, bringing you in with a emotional single player with a wide variety in missions. Even though it is only about 6 hours long you will love every single minute that you get in it.

Don’t know what to do after completing the single player? Check out the multiplayer section of Medal of Honor. If you played the beta you would know that there were issues such as freezing but this has been changed. You no longer freeze before you die and the graphics have been updated.

Medal of Honor’s unlock tree plays out a little differently than most fps’s. There is a new leveling system. Instead of just leveling up regularly, you now level up 3 classes (the rifleman class, special ops, and the sniper class). You can basically unlock new weapons and perks for each of the different classes as you play. For example, you start out your AK-47 with nothing but the iron sights but if you want red dot for the specific gun you can level up that class. The unlocks max out at 15 for each class so there is only 45 levels.

Another thing unique about Medal of Honor is instead of killstreaks there are scorechains. Scorechains are similar to killstreaks but use points instead of kills. For example, to get a mortar strike you would need 40 points instead of 3 kills. You can mix up your strategy many ways to get your points for offensive or defensive actions. With offense, be selfish and take out enemies with mortar strikes…missiles…etc. With defense, help your team by calling uavs …flak jackets…etc. Make sure to choose your actions wisely.

You will get frustrated at some points with the game. Spawning next to enemies and dying automatically can get old very fast. Every once in a while you will get spawn trapped and just die time after time. Also there are some balance issues with the maps for sometimes snipers dominate leaving the run and gunners no chance. The game can get laggy at some points in the single player campaign and multiplayer but it does not affect your experience that much.

I would have to say that this is a fair competition against call of duty. If you are still wondering whether to buy it or not I would say it is a must by due to the uniqueness and fun gameplay. The replay ability keeps you going with multiplayer offering enough modes and tier 1 mode for single player. EA did a great job with converting Medal of Honor to modern combat.

overall- 9.3/10

Super Street Fighter IV REVIEW

Super Street Fighter IV
Genre: Fighting

Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release Date: 04/27/10

One of the most well known fighting series is back and it is bigger than ever. Super street fighter 4 is an upgrade to the high reviewed game street fighter 4. I myself never been a fighting type of guy until i dived into super street fighter 4. I knew from the start this game was going to set the bar for fighting games. The moves and combos are challenging and fun. This game is not your average fighter.
This game is really fun. I mean really fun! The aspects of the game just make it better every time i play it. Jumping around shooting fireballs couldn't get any better. Super street fighter 4 is a big upgrade from the original. Bringing in new ultra combos for each character and 10 new characters. That brings the cast .to 35 characters and
I gotta say, the ultra combos are just incredible they are so well put together. The new characters re thankfully strong and useful. Each character has their own strengths and weaknesses and you will find yourself spending a lot of time trying to learn each characters moves. Some characters have tweaks while some stay the same. You also notice the balance is a lot better.

The controls are a bit weird at first, but you would eventually get used to them. light and medium attacks are a bit funky for you thumb. A lot of street fighter gamers like to use a fightstick or fightpad. These helps you have an easier time landing your moves. The game play isn't easy though. It takes time to get every special move and ultra combo down perfectly. Who doesn't like a nice challenge? The game sucks you in and you just cant stop playing match after match, perfecting your skill.
In a fighting game you need a good fighting modes. It great to say that super street fighter 4 brings that to the table. The arcade mode provides weak stories with a number of stages. You might play through each character but they are something you would forget in time. There is the challenge mode where you complete combos and challenges. Training and vs mode help you train and play with player vs player. The strength of the game is the online mode though. You have a choice of a ranked match, endless battle and team battle. The ranked match is just simply 1on 1, and the team battle is 4 on 4 battles. The endless battle is a bit different. You are in a lobby and if you keep on winning your matches you never leave, simple as that. Ranked matches measure your pp(player points) and your bp(battle points). Your pp is your points for all your battles while your bp measures one character.
The graphics have the same street fighter touch. and the sound is nice with the occasionally annoying announcer in the background. The stages for the fights are nice with the additional characters reacting to the fight. It makes you seem like you are on a real street fight.
So lets get this straight. 10 new characters, all new ultras, all new strategies, tweaks and balance fixes, can it get any better? The eagerly waited for game SSF4 is finally here and it's big. So dive in and give it a try!

9.4/10
