Lost Planet 2 Review

Lost planet 2
Genre: third -person action shooter

Developer: Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release Date: 05/11/10

The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years after the events of the first game. The snow has melted to reveal jungles and more tropical areas that have taken the place of more frozen regions. The third person action shooter really grabs your attention with its unique play style and stunning graphics. The campaign is mostly made for co-op online play along with a splitscreen mode and if you don't have xbox live this game can really set you into the wrong direction.

Campaign is set up with 6 episodes with multiple chapters in each, set up with huge bosses and many enemies. Although you can get lost in the plot, the story has cinematic cut scenes and great voice-overs. This game impresses you within the start. The environment really makes you feel like your in the game.

The story is mixed around having multiple protagonists with multiple groups of enemies. It is really a surprise every time. It is quite easy to get lost in the story, but it wont matter because you'll be spending to much time annihilating akrids and pirates. Your missions require four men and if you go at it alone you'll find that your AI's are really stupid and are just shooting at walls. For example, at a time in the game a category G Akrid comes up and if you are playing alone, you will find yourself dying over and over again. And that is where lost planet 2 has its problems. Communication is key in this game.

Lost planet 2 excels in its co-op, you will find your self using a lot of team work to take down bosses and other objectives. It feels like a real accomplishment finishing episodes and ranking up. You have career level points that match the character you are using at the time. The points can be gained through online play or campaign mode. Another pro to lost plant 2 is it's customization. Unlock titles, weapons, and parts for your character to show around the world to other players.

Online modes consist of the main three: post grab( similar to capture the flag), elimination(death match), and team elimination, With the new mode fugitive. The online mode is just great great fun and the 10 maps in multiplayer will have you playing it for a while. This game is incomparable to any others and you should try the experience out for yourself!

Score:
8.9/10
-bad single player
-poor AI
- sometimes confusing story
